Crossways Higher Education Fair: An Eye – Opening Experience
The 2009 Crossways Higher Education Fair was held on Thursday, 15 October 2009 in the Main Hall. The fair provided a good opportunity for students to meet with representatives from some of the UK’s leading universities.
The universities in attendance included Imperial College, University College London, Queen Mary, Surrey, City, Brunel, Portsmouth, Kent, Coventry, Bedfordshire, Westminster, Middlesex, Greenwich, London Southbank and London Metropolitan.
The fair also featured presentations on ‘What Admission Tutors Are Looking For’ by Mark Bickerton of London Metropolitan University and Interview Skills by a representative of Queen Mary’s. Hundreds of students visited the university representatives at their tables in the main hall to collect prospectuses, pens and other goodies.
Most of the university representatives were quite fascinated by the level of motivation and passion demonstrated by Crossways students during the fair.
Katie Prior, Education Liaison Officer at University of Portsmouth said that “the students are very nice and they seem well prepared”.

The education fair that took place today has affected a lot of people’s opinion about university; especially for students that have made up their minds not to go to university. Today’s fair totally surprised us all. I have learnt a lot from the people I have spoken to from the different universities.” – Adetutu Queeney
“I enjoyed the Higher Education Fair because I was well informed. For most of the questions I asked, they had an answer which wasn’t too complicated”. - Ketzia Calarbay.
