Crossways students attend Oxford University “Debate Chamber” at University of London

Crossways students have attended two “Debate Chamber” conferences at the University of London union. Debate Chamber is affiliated to Oxford University and academics from the university run conferences and workshops for A Level students.

This term three science students and six social science students attended conferences. The science students attended a “Medical Ethics” conference, while the social science students attended a “British Politics and Society” two-day event.

Michael O’Hanlon, Gifted & Talented and Aim Higher coordinator, who arranged for the students to attend the conferences, said:

“The Debate Chamber format is an invaluable opportunity for Crossways students. The conferences are challenging and interactive. Students get the chance to build confidence, skills and knowledge, to interact with students from across the country and to broaden and enrich their education by working with leading academics.”

Donnisha Best who attended one of the conferences said: “It was a very good experience, it was helpful and interesting as I want to build a career in politics and this gave me an insight into the workings of British political system and society.” Well done to all the Crossways students who attended.
